Good Morning Britain presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid have announced they'll be taking a break from their early morning wake up calls...
The lucky pair, who have managed to line up an extended break over Easter, will be presenting the hit breakfast show until Friday 5th April, but then will disappear from our screens for more than two weeks.
It’s no accident that the presenters’ break from Good Morning Britain coincides with the school Easter holidays, meaning that Piers will get to some some well-earned down time with his seven-year-old daughter, Elsie.
Despite the fact that Piers and Susanna infamously clash while presenting Good Morning Britain, they have become firm favourites with the nation each morning.
But fear not, ITV has lined up a variety of familiar faces to cover the pair while they’re taking a break – and the first person to step into the role is Richard Madeley.
Richard will anchor the show alongside GMB stalwart Kate Garraway for the first three days that Piers and Susanna are off.
But this isn’t the first time that Richard has filled Piers’ shoes on the show.
Back in February he proved to be a hit as he held the fort, with viewers loving the moment he shut down defence secretary Gavin Williamson mid-interview.
Richard even joked in the column that he writes with wife Judy Finnigan that we can expect more of the same when he is on screen next month.
He wrote in the Daily Express, “I’ll be back on hosing duties with Good Morning Britain in a couple of weeks. The list off questions I’d like to ask Jeremy Corbyn or Theresa May would now fill a fat notebook.
“The invitation’s open, guys. And I promise not to ‘terminate’ you a la my recent GMB interview with defence secretary Gavin Williamson. As long as you can answer the questions, obviously.”
While it remains a mystery as to who else will be covering the pair, it is thought that newsreader Charlotte Hawkins will lend a hand.
Piers and Susanna will be back on our screens after the Easter bank holiday on Tuesday 23 April.
