Following the news that Declan Donnelly will be presenting the final two Saturday Night Takeaway‘s alone, fans have now called for Holly Willoughby to step in.

Holly Willoughby

Geordie telly presenter Ant McPartlin won’t be on our screens for a while after he recently checked himself back into to rehab following a drink-driving charge.

And ITV viewers think Holly would be the ‘perfect candidate’ to temporarily take his spot as Dec’s presenting partner, with some even calling for the This Morning star to fly over to Australia with him for the next series of I’m A Celebrity.

“Hoping Ant is feeling the love and best wishes from us all. I do reckon Holly Willoughby would be a fab co-host contender!” said one Twitter follower.

Another said: “@this morning when is Holly taking over from Ant? Holly and Dec, got a ring to it!!”

While a third said: “Being a huge Ant and Dec fan I have found the last few days upsetting. I hope that Ant gets the help he so needs and Dec gets the support that he needs without his best friend by his side. Holly Willoughby would be the perfect candidate to present the show with him”.

And a fourth added: “Stephen would seem like the obvious choice… but the I’m a Celeb rumours were Holly Willlougby… Could we see that finally materialise?”

Awkwardly. 42-year-old Dec opened the last series of I’m A Celeb with a joke about Holly replacing his telly BFF.

“Welcome to Australia, we are back, and we’re here for the next three weeks. Your hosts with the most, me and the gorgeous Holly Willoughby….”, he told viewers.

Before turning to Dec and explaining: “Nobody was sure if you would make it or not!”

It comes after the news that Dec will take the Saturday Night Takeaway reigns alone this week for the first time following Ant’s crash in Richmond last Sunday.

He said in a statement released after meeting with ITV bosses: “Whilst I never thought I’d be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we’ve decided that the remaining two shows of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead.

“We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that. Everyone at ITV and the Takeaway team feels we owe it to the audience to complete the series”.
