Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has given birth to a daughter and named her after an iconic character from the ITV soap.
The 34-year-old actress – who is already mother to son Albert with her husband Chris Farr – previously revealed she may name the child after a Corrie character.
And she has, as she’s named her daughter Hilda after battleaxe Hilda Ogden, played by Jean Alexander from 1964 to 1987.
Jennie, who has played Fiz Brown in Corrie since 2001, announced the happy news on Twitter on Tuesday evening.
She said: “Our newest addition arrived yesterday. Mummy and Daddy very happy. Big brother very proud of his little sister Hilda. We’re all in love.”
Plenty of Jennie’s Corrie co-stars rushed to wish her and her husband congratulations.
Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, said: “Congratulations to you all . Sending lots of love.”
Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Connor, added: “Ahhh yay! Huge congratulations to you all Jen… sooo happy for you!”
Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby, wrote: “So so happy for you all my darling Hilda is a dream.”
Jennie revealed how “excited” she was to give birth when she announced her pregnancy back in July.
