In true Loose Women fashion, Andrea McLean has always been open and honest about how she’s coped with the symptoms of the menopause.
The 48-year-old has experienced some tricky health issues in the past – including a difficult hysterectomy just a few years ago.
Since then, the newly-married mum-of-two has been open about her health struggles – in particular, the issues she’s experiencing with the menopause.
And now, Andrea confessed that since it began, she’s been experiencing short-term memory loss.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he presenter described her symptom as a kind of ‘brain fog’, which leads her to forgetting simple things.
She explained, “It’s short-term. It’s that sort of memory loss where you walk into a room and think, ‘I came in here for something, what was it?’
“You walk into a bedroom and think, ‘What did I do this for?’. I have to go back downstairs and retrace my steps… ah, that was it! You find most things in the fridge.
“That sort of thing. It’s like a brain fog. It’s annoying.”
Andrea even confessed that she now carries a notebook with her, in an attempt to combat the problem.
“I have a notebook I take everywhere, and I write everything down”, she revealed.
The TV star has admitted that she’s suffered from other debilitating symptoms of the menopause, including excessive sweating.
Andrea, who regularly fronts Loose Women, even shared that her hot flushes left her forced to mop herself down during ad breaks on the show.
Andrea has spoken openly of her frustration that the menopause is still largely a taboo subject in society. During a recent appearance on Lorraine, the star even suggested that women wear ‘M’ badges on public transport.
She said, “If there was more knowledge out there I think male commuters would say, ‘OK, it’s fine. She’s burning up like a furnace, let her open the window, cut her a bit of slack.”
