In our ‘Ask The Experts’ series we’ll be chatting to the hairdressers, stylists and make-up artists to find out the insider tricks that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. This week’s it’s how to get more volume in fine hair, with ward winning hairdresser Andrew Barton.

Here are some extra tips to help get volume in fine hair…

Go shorter

Opting for a bob that skims your shoulders is the optimum style for making fine hair look thicker.

Add colour

Clever highlighting can add depth to thin hair. Try strobing, which will accentuate your features too.

Eat more protein
Eating more protein can actually help reduce hair loss. Try lean meat and oily fish to keep it healthy.

Increase your iron

Opt forspinach, lean red meats and green leafy veggies.

Look after your scalp

Give it a quick massage before bed every night and try using a scalp toner.

Create movement
To stop long hair looking thin style the front sections with a loose wave to create movement and texture.

Add shape to fine hair
“Create long-lasting shape by setting hair with hot rollers on partly dried hair. Roll hair away from your face in sections, concentrating on hair from your forehead to your crown, and let set for 15 minutes before removing. Remember, heat styles and cold sets, so make sure you let hair cool before removing the rollers for long lasting volume and thickness,” says Andrew Jose: Brand Ambassador for SALON SCIENCE.
