Because we really, really needed one

It never seemed fair to us that Paris has a Disneyland and London doesn’t. Which is why we’re over the moon about the fact that an incredible resort inspired by Hollywood and dubbed “the UK Disneyland” is coming to our shores. And it’s going to be less than an hour away from London!

The Paramount London Entertainment Resort is set to open in 2022.

With the company aiming to start building in 2019. The venture is estimated to cost £3.5 billion, Business Insider reports.

These tantalising illustrations exhibit an artist’s impression of what Paramount London will look like when completed. (We’re already excited!)

The theme park will be situated in the Swancombe Peninsula on the North Kent Marshes, just under an hour from London. It will be approximately 872-acres and is set to attract around 40,000 visitors a day.

Rides and attractions will all be Paramount themed, taking inspiration from films the company has produced. Paramount Pictures is behind blockbusters such as Titanic, Forrest Gump , Grease and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, so we’re pretty sure we can expect great things.

The Telegraph reports that the theme park will also feature rides from BBC Worldwide shows. This means that there’s potential for Doctor Who and Sherlock themed rides!

All in all, the resort sounds like a fantastic day out:

The park will be separated into different zones such as Adventure Isle, Land of Legends, Cartoon Circus, Starfleet Command, Action Square, Port Paramount and Entertainment City. Each zone will boast different themes and attractions.

Visitors will be able to enjoy “West End quality” shows, Stylist reports. They will also be able to stay overnight in onsite hotels, and spend their evenings in the park’s restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. There will also be a large event space that can be used for major music and sports fixtures. Not to mention an indoor water park which is set to be one of the largest in Europe!

Of course, as you might imagine, all of this fun won’t exactly make for a cheap day out. A full-priced day ticket to Paramount London is expected to cost £57 per person.

However, given the fact that a UK Disneyland is the stuff of dreams, it may just be worth it. We’ll start saving our pennies now!
