Thanks to Waitrose, you can now do some gin tasting from the comfort of your own home - and we can't wait to try it!
Waitrose are introducing a new service, where one of their gin specialists comes to your house for two hours – so you can sample all of the tasty tipples, and learn what makes the perfect blend of botanicals using a fancy pestle and mortar.
The tasting includes five types of gin, including a pink pepper one and a sloe gin, and they are all paired with a variety of Fever Tree tonic waters.
You will also learn the art of the perfect gin and tonic, which we reckon is a pretty useful life skill.
For any gin puritans, the spirit will be served neat so you can really appreciate the different aromas and afterwards, each guest will get their own Fever Tree Darlington crystal glass to take home.
Up to 10 people can come round to yours for the gin experience, and it will cost the group £400. So while it’s not super-cheap, we reckon it’ll be well worth it.
The service will be taking bookings from 1st May, so you won’t have to wait long to try it either.
Andrew Riding, Drinks Experience Manager at Waitrose Wine Tasting at Home, said, “The Waitrose Wine Tasting at Home Gin O’ Clock experience is a fun and relaxed way for you and your guests to find out more about various gin flavour profiles.
“From knowing how much ice to use, to which glass choice is best, our experience will help hone your gin and tonic making skills. Britain is having a great love affair with gin at the moment and we are excited to either teach fans more about their favourite drink or introduce the world of gin to newcomers.”
The supermarket’s own £31.50 dry gin was recently crowned the best in the UK with its savoury rosemary, thyme and olive tones – beating Tesco and Aldi.
And if gin isn’t your thing then Waitrose also do a home wine tasting experience with nibbles.
So either way, you’ve got some excellent ideas for a hen party, birthday, or even just a Friday night in…
