They say that true love never dies. And for one woman, this saying made the leap from fiction to reality when she uncovered a never-before-seen message from her husband…months after he had passed away.

Like a real life P.S I love you, a woman in her 50s has been given a love letter from her husband who sadly passed away. The heartfelt note was discovered by the woman’s son in April while dismantling her prized workbench.

While a love letter between husband and wife isn’t out of the ordinary, this special note was written to the woman, named Becca, on the underside of her workbench. The bench had been made by Becca’s husband Mason as a special gift to honour her love of metal engraving.

Becca didn’t read the heartfelt message until after her husband Mason – then aged 51 – passed away from a ruptured artery earlier in the year.

A snap of note was uploaded to viral image website Imgur by Becca’s son, and has since attracted more than 1.6 million views from romantics across the globe.

It read as follows:

“I love you Becca. Whatever day this is, I hope it’s a good one. God truly answered my prayers the day he gave me you. I know that these days are the best I’ll ever have, and I’m glad you’re in them. I’m not sure if you’ll ever see this, but if you do, just know that I love you very much. If there is one thing want in life, it is to be as good to you as you are to me. If I can do that, I’ll be the happiest man alive. – I love you beautiful wife. – Mason”

The letter provoked an outpouring of love and support from readers far and wide.”Your late father just won the teary-eyed respect of thousands of strangers today. Including mine,” said one fan of the note.

The emotional reaction to the letter prompted Becca’s son to post the following update:

“Thanks for the love guys. You don’t have to send me anything. I only ask that you love one another so there can be peace. Leave the world better than you found it.”

Now that’s what we call enduring love!
