Marilyn always managed to look flawless and apparently it’s because she did two things every day, 1 – she applied five, yes five, different shades of lipstick to make her lips look fuller creating a 3D like effect! If you want to do this at home, apply the lighter shades in the middle of your lips and the darker shades towards the outer edge. 2 – she apparently told Pageant Magazine in 1952 that she broke two raw eggs into a hot glass of milk and whipped them up and drank it for a healthy, skin glowing breakfast! Ummm, maybe don’t try that last one at home!
Even in the 40s and 50s contouring was a popular way to slim the face and Grace Kelly used to use blusher to define her features. She would use a light blusher shade over the apples of her cheeks and a darker shade underneath her cheekbones for an instant slimming effect! Plus Grace was a stickler for hand cream reportedly saying it was where people show their age first. She used to apply it repeatedly!
Apparently Liz used to shave the fine baby hairs on her face, which also gives an exfoliation type effect, to keep her skin soft and give her a facial-like glow!
The always beautiful Audrey used to use a pin to separate each and every lash after she applied mascara! It was the false lash effect without falsies!!
Sophia loved olive oil and always added a few drops to a hot bath to leave her skin totally soft and glowing. So easy and fuss free!
Apparently Greta used to put petroleum jelly (Vaseline to you and I!) on her eyelids and under her eye shadow to give it a glossy finish and make it last longer.
Bette Davis’ eyes were stunning and she apparently kept them looking so youthful and bright by applying cucumber slices to her lids at night! Then she dabbed petroleum jelly under her eyes to help prevent dark circles. Clever!
Mae used to use coconut oil on a daily basis as a face moisturiser because apparently it left her skin youthful and glowing!
