How old would you guess this model is? 30? 35? 40 at a push? Christie Brinkley is actually 61 and looking better than ever.
Yes, regular trips to the stylist and makeup counter do help, but the model’s radiance and youthful appearance really are extraordinary. Basically, well have what she’s having!
Christie was the ultimate ’80s supermodel, with glossy blonde locks, a three-time Sports Illustrated cover-worthy body, and a dazzling megawatt smile. And she barely seems to have aged since!
Over the years, Christie has appeared on the covers of more than 500 magazines, including Vogue, Glamour, Rolling Stone, and Esquire, as well as being the face of the iconic Cover Girl.
So how does Christie do it?
Well apparently its all down to having a good diet and, more importantly, a good attitude.
Two years ago, when she was just about to turn 60, Christie said in an interview for People magazine: ’I’m thrilled to be turning 60 soon, I feel like I’m living through the best years of my life’. We like your style, Christie!
Here are Christie Brinkley’s anti ageing beauty secrets
Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!
‘In the beginning of my career I read an article about the reason that men always look five years younger than women is because they shave, she told Elle Magazine. It said that the daily exfoliation from shaving gives them that rapid cell turnover and keeps their skin glowing and looking so great.’
Be healthy, but don’t deny yourself treats
Christie is a vegetarian for ethical reasons, and this means her diet is packed with fresh fruit and veg. You really are what you eat, so make sure you’re getting those 5 portions a day! Having said this, the odd treat now and again is good for the soul. ‘Life’s too short to not afford oysters and champagne from time to time’. We couldn’t agree more.
ALWAYS wear SPF
Brinkley’s top beauty tip? Always protect your skin from the sun.
‘It’s the number one ager of our skin. Photoaging is the worst. It wreaks havoc,’ she said.
Make exercise a regular part of your routine
Whether its swimming once a week, a yoga class, a quick run before work or a long walk at the weekend, staying active is the simplest and most effective anti ageing tip there is. Christie herself is not one to shy away from adventurous sports. ‘During my life, I had a lot of injuries from things that were out of my control: escaped horses, fallen helicopters, overturned boats,’ she said.
The facelift that wont cost you a penny?
Smile! It instantly lifts your face and brightens the room.
And finally, look after your health and your beauty will shine through
‘First of all, I wish that women wouldn’t feel the pressure to look a certain way, said Christie. I wish that they would place the emphasis on feeling great. When you feel great you emanate a certain energy that translates as beautiful. I don’t care if you have the standard beauty or not, it’s that X-factor that comes through, and the basis of that is good health.’
