Thanks to a rather surprising secret ingredient!

We all want to know the secret to long, luscious locks.

Day to day stresses such as sun and heat damage, pollution and harsh chemicals in hair products leave many of us with dry, damaged and brittle hair. It becomes a vicious circle, the more you style it, the more the condition suffers, and then the worse condition it’s in, the more you need to style it!

So what if we told you there was a secret ingredient that could save damaged hair, boost shine and help restore thickness, but you have been too busy drinking it to realise…

That’s right, the key ingredient in your Saturday night Cosmo is actually a haircare secret weapon. Using a tablespoon of vodka in your DIY hair mask will repair your damaged locks AND stimulate growth.

We’ll drink to that!

Ok, so we know you may be a little bit skeptical on this. So we consulted the experts to back up this crazy haircare theory….

Trichologist (that’s a hair and scalp specialist to you and me) Elizabeth Cunnane Phillips of the renowned Philip Kingsley Clinic in New York recommends using vodka in a homemade tonic to soothe the scalp: ‘For at-home relief, concoct a pre shampoo treatment of two eggs, two half eggshells full of witch hazel, and half an eggshell of vodka.’

Naturally acidic, Vodka maintains the PH level of the hair, leaving it shinier and frizz free.

Vodka is also really great at getting rid of any build up on the scalp, which is said to speed up hair growth.

Below is the daddy of all DIY hair masks, incorporating this secret ingredient with absolutely everything you need packed in to smooth and soothe dry and damaged hair (Is it wrong that we think it looks kind of tasty too?!)
