Tracking each meal with a calorie counter may be one way to lose weight, but as one woman proved, it’s certainly not the only way to get your ideal body.
Blogger Madalin Giorgetta used to restrict herself to a 800 calorie-a-day diet. However, now she is eating more than double the amount of calories and she looks better than ever!
Madalin’s breakthrough happened when she realised she wasn’t giving her body enough macronutrients. Macronutrients are carbohydrates, proteins and fat. Dietician Nikita Kapur explained to Self, “If your body gets fewer calories than it needs to function, it can go into a conservation mode where it tries to hold on to as much energy as it can.”
Like any of us being told to eat more to get slimmer, Madalin wasn’t initially convinced of the plan. She explained that when her nutritional coach told her to eat 50% more carbs in her diet she freaked out, “I was eating about 10% carbs before and could not fathom how 50% carbs would not make me fat. I also freaked out at all the calories.’
However, after sticking to her coach’s advice, she started to see results. “Don’t waste your time eating salad when you could be eating sweet potatoes and banana pancakes” she wrote on Instagram. “Eat more and get fit. It actually works 🙌🏽”.
