Ed Sheeran reveals the secret behind his dramatic 50-pound weight loss.
You may have noticed that the singer looks a little bit slimmer these days.
Ed describes how he initially gained a lot of weight during his year away from music. Then, after realising the extent of the weight gain, he turned to his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn for weight loss advice.
The singer told “The Breakfast Club” radio show that after concluding his “X” tour in 2015, he “doubled in size.”
“I didn’t realise how active I was on tour,” Ed explained on Total Access, Signal 1 radio.
“My diet was pizza and beer, but because I was doing two hours a night I was really in shape.
“I stopped touring and carried on my diet of pizza and beer. Suddenly I didn’t fit in anything.
“I was like, ‘All my clothes have shrunk’.”
Ed gave up one thing to lose weight
Ed revealed the one guilty pleasure that caused him to pack on the pounds: beer.
He initially gave up beer entirely, in order to detox his body and get back on track. When he cut out the alcohol, he found the weight dropping off.
Ed explains the lifestyle changes he made in order to lose the excess bulk he had gained:
“Well, I’m back on beer now, because I’m fine, but I cut out beer for a bit and started exercising, which was quite weird,” he explained.

The singer was also put on a high-intensity exercise regime by his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. He credits the consistent, daily cardio routine with helping him drop over 3 stone!
“I did ten minutes a day without fail — intervals of 30 seconds sprinting and 30 jogging.
“The key is to not miss a day, so you don’t have to do an hour.”
