If there’s anyone for whom the term #bodygoals applies, it’s Blake Lively. While she obviously rocks a stunning svelte bod, she’s also open and honest about how hard she works to achieve her trim and toned look. And, even more refreshingly, she’s not afraid to admit that she doesn’t always feel comfortable in her own skin.

The 29-year-old actress is mum to three-year-old James and 1-year-old Ines. And, like any other mother, she’s the first to admit the struggle of getting that post-baby bod back after giving birth.

In the past, the American star has spoken out about the unfair pressure on new mums to lose their baby weight. She said, “I think a woman’s body after having a baby is pretty amazing.

“You don’t need to be Victoria’s Secret ready right away, because you just did the most incredible miracle that life has to offer. You gave birth to a human being. So I would really like to see that celebrated.”

But unlike the rest of us, Blake Lively had a film to shoot just eight months after giving birth. Blake has finally divulged how she managed to get into “the best shape of her life” for shark-thriller film The Shallows. And, surprisingly, the actress revealed that she did just two simple things to slim down…

Chatting on Australia’s Kylie and Jackie O radio show, Blake admitted that the film provided motivation for getting in shape.

She said, “I’ve never been in that good of shape in my whole life so to do it [get that bikini body] after having a kid was actually really nice,”

“Because you see your body after having a kid, and it’s beautiful because you just gave birth. But you also say, ‘Oh my god, this is not what my body looked like’. You feel like you’re never going to get your body back again. But you can and that was what was encouraging about it!”

So how did she get her body to look like that?

Well, in a tale as old as time, it was a combination of good old diet and exercise. But there were a few things she did have to cut out of her diet to make it work.

She revealed, “I did no gluten and no soy, which seems like, ‘Oh, that’s really easy to cut that out,’ but you realise there’s soy in everything you eat. And even if it’s healthy – whole foods, organic stuff – there’s always soy in it. So once you remove soy, you realise you’re eating just no processed foods.”

But get this – the former Gossip Girl star was still allowed treats, admitting that she got her film body despite still occasionally indulging her sweet tooth!

Blake said, “I was still able to have sugar and all of those things. It’s all in moderation. You just have a balance of protein, carbs, and vegetables. And it wasn’t the worst. I was eating rice and sushi and but just no soy and no gluten. And watch how hard that is.”

Well, she’s certainly convinced us!

But, of course, a healthy diet goes hand in hand with exercise, and you definitely can’t have one without the other. So Blake also admitted she did LOTS of working out in order to tone up. Speaking to E! News in 2016, she also revealed,  “I worked out with an amazing trainer Don Saladino.

“He kicked my butt. It was also eight months after having a baby so my body was already completely different than what it normally was. Not just aesthetically but also your muscles are different, your body, everything is just shifted and changed.”
