The Duchess of Cambridge’s brother, James Middleton, has split from his long term girlfriend Donna Air.
According to reports the couple decided to go their separate ways shortly after their final public appearance – Pippa Middleton’s wedding which took place earlier this year.
James and Donna were still very affectionate back in May
James, 30, and TV personality Donna, 38, had been dating for more than four years. A friend told the Daily Mail: “They broke up some time ago. They managed to keep it quiet. James hopes the split will not be permanent.”
Donna has a 14-year-old daughter with her ex Damian Aspinall, but she and James never had any children.
Last year James was very open about his desire to have a family with Donna. Speaking to the Daily Mail James said: “We are thinking about where we are going next. I love Donna very much. Marriage is absolutely not something I’m scared of but it isn’t necessarily the be-all and end-all.”
He added: “She makes me very happy [and] I think I make her very happy. I want children. I’ve said that before. I will have children, but you’ll have to wait. We are quite purposeful, forward-thinking people, so we needed wind in our sails in order to progress.”
James and Donna back in 2013
Neither James nor Donna have confirmed the rumours that they have split. It would not be the first time that the couple were mistaken for being separated.
Back in 2015 the couple responded to claims they had split with the following statement: “Mark Twain once complained that reports of his death were exaggerated. A few days ago we were equally amazed to read the obituaries of our relationship in the national press.
“Happily, we can report that our relationship is not over. We are still very much a couple and have not parted ways.”
