After her amazing weight loss, how has the actress managed to maintain her figure?

As Coronation Street’s unlucky-in-love Eileen Grimshaw, soap fans are used to seeing actress Sue Cleaver swamped in baggy clothes.

But away from our screens, Sue, 54, looks worlds apart from her alter-ego, having maintained an impressive 3st weight loss for the past seven years.

Insiders close to the star tell Woman that Sue – who suffers from diabetes – plans on losing another stone to complete her new look. A source tells us, “She hasn’t been this size since she was in her 30s, now she wants to get down to a size 12-14.”

So how has Sue kept the weight off – and how will she achieve the next step of her body transformation?

1. Overhauling bad habits

Starting as she means to go on, Sue decided to re-evaluate her diet in a bid to shift the pounds.

Our source explains, “Sue was always a self-confessed foodie, who admitted that over-indulgence was her Achilles Heel. Now everything’s changed.”

As well as following a healthy, Mediterranean-diet, Sue has also focussed on changing more of her eating habits.

“Sue has dramatically reduced her sugar intake – now everything that goes on to her plate is low-GI and gluten free.

“She’s also increased her protein intake.”

2. Health comes first

“It’s no secret that Sue needs to be careful about what she eats due to her medical condition, and she also knows that her health is directly linked to her weight,” our source explains.

“Sue’s in her mid 50s so it was a no brainer that cutting down on certain things was what she had to do. She’s in this for the long game and wants to live a long, happy and healthy life.”

3. Lasting motivation

Sue wasn’t only thinking about herself when she decided to put her body transformation into practice.

“Losing the weight was not only important for Sue, but the men in her life too – her partner and son Elliot.”

And what about exercise?

Not only has Sue posted photos of her enjoying regular walks, but the actress has previously spoken about her love of cycle rides.
