Darcey Bussell shocked fans when she announced she was stepping down from Strictly Come Dancing.

The former ballerina shared news of her departure on social media, saying, ‘‘I know I will miss being part of this unique show, and the fact that it celebrates dance is something I am so passionate about.”

Since then, fans have speculated who’ll be replacing the much-loved former judge.

It’s been a hot topic recently, with This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby sitting down to talk to three professional dancers about the news.

Aljaz Skorjanec, Giovanni Pernice and Gorka Marquez spoke to the duo about Darcey’s departure, agreeing that the news was “very sad”.

However, none of the dancers commented on her replacement.

Ballroom dancer Anton du Beke seems to be a fan favourite at the moment, and Holly asked the dancers if they felt he’d be a good replacement.

Aljaz didn’t speak directly on the subject, instead saying, “I do believe anyone the producers will choose will be the right choice.”

Phillip then asked if Darcey’s replacement had ‘big shoes to fill’, to which Giovanni answered that she actually had ‘quite tiny feet’.

Despite not being any further forward with the new judge, the Strictly dancers were able to share their thoughts on the upcoming series. Naturally they all have busy schedules, but Giovanni said they “were back and looking forward to it”.

“We’re looking forward to meeting our new celebs, it’s going to be interesting,” teased Aljaz, making us wonder who would be taking to the dance floor next. We’ve already seen so many wonderful stars, so we can’t wait to find out what this series will bring.

Despite the anticipation of the new contestants, Giovanni admitted to Googling his partners to find out their occupations in the media.

“I’m not English, so I don’t know most of them.”
