Strictly Come Dancing star Faye Tozer might have performed on stage with Steps but has confessed that she’s petrified of dancing on live TV.

The singer will take to the dance floor with professional partner Giovanni Pernice when the show hits our screens this weekend yet is overcome with fear at the thought of it.

“What fills me with dread is the idea of going on TV and dancing live in front of so many people,” said Faye, 42.

However, the music star has made it clear that she won’t let her nerves stop her from enjoying the experience.

“I was born for this. More sequins, more spray tan, more feathers,” Faye told the Radio Times. “I’m ready – throw it at me.

“I’ve been wanting to do Strictly for years! I’m a huge fan. I had preconceived ideas about what it was going to be like, but it’s everything and more.”

Faye has also revealed that she’s particularly excited about her young son Benjamin – who she shares with husband Michael Smith – getting to watch her dance.

“I’m excited for my little boy to see his mum twirling around on telly,” Faye admitted.

The mum-of-one has been working hard in training ahead of her first dance but confessed last week that it’s already taken its toll on her limbs.

“Moooooorning!! My aching body!!” Faye tweeted. “So, it’s Day 3 @bbcstrictly training .. today I get to practice in my heels!! Wish me luck!!”

She went on to tell one of her followers that training has “been hard core and brilliant at the same time”.

It’s been revealed that Faye and Giovanni’s first dance will be a Cha Cha Cha to Lullaby by Sigala featuring Paloma Faith.

Meanwhile other stars of the show have been speaking out ahead of the series opener, with Casualty actor Charles Venn – who has been paired with Karen Clifton – admitting he’s already seen his body change due to rehearsals.

“I’ve seen Karen do her thing on the dancefloor and know she’s going to whip me into shape,” Charles, 45, confessed. “I’ve already started dropping weight and seeing muscle definition I haven’t seen in years.”

We can’t wait to watch how the celebrities get on when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 22 September at 6.15pm on BBC One.
