We're used to seeing Richard Madeley and his on and off-screen wife Judy Finnigan on the This Morning sofa, usually.
But it seems Richard’s TV career is heading in a slightly different direction these days, as he tries his hand at a very surprising reality TV show.
The 63-year-old presenter has confirmed that he will be joining Channel 4 programme The Circle!
Channel 4 revealed that he’ll be taking part in the highly anticipated second series of the show, which aired for the first time last year.
The Circle is centred around social media, with all the contestants sharing the same house together, but only able to interact with one another via the social media platform called – you guessed it – The Circle.
Within the ‘game’, players can decide whether or not they want to be ‘themselves’, or adopt a different persona entirely – all with the aim of becoming the most popular contestant and winning the game.
Richard will be a contestant, and Channel 4 have already revealed that he won’t be playing himself. Viewers of the programme will be the ones to dictate his ‘profile’, deciding whether he will be portrayed as a male or female, and how old he is.
Explaining why he signed up to the unusual show, he said, “I get asked to do all kinds of things all the time, and usually the answer is, ‘No, thank you’, because it either sounds a bit boring, or I’ve kind of done it before.
“This is genuinely different. I was aware of the programme. I’d seen a little bit of the last series, and I read quite a lot about it. I was quite intrigued by it at the time and it got some very interesting write-ups.
“It’s not your normal reality show. It’s got quite a lot going for it intellectually as well as being a lot of fun.”
We can’t wait to see this!
Richard won’t be the only newbie to the show this year though. Big Brother star Emma Willis has signed up to be The Circle’s presenter for the second season, revealing that she too was intrigued by the premise.
The first episode of series two of The Circle will air on Channel 4 tonight, at 9.15pm – will you be tuning in?
