It was the royal baby announcement that took the world by surprise this weekend, as it was revealed that there is a new Prince or Princess on the way, turning one very happy family of four into a family of five!
While everyone might have been hoping that the big brother and big sister-to-be were Prince George and Princess Charlotte, it turns out that it’s actually the Swedish Royal Family who have something to celebrate.
Sweden’s Royal Court confirmed at the weekend that Princess Madeleine is pregnant with her third child. Princess Madeleine and her British-American financier husband Chris O’Neill are already parents to two children, Princess Leonore and Prince Nicolas.
The Swedish royal took to her official Facebook page to confirm the news personally on Sunday, stating that she and her family were “thrilled” with the news.
“Chris and I are thrilled to announce that I am expecting. We look forward to four becoming five!” she wrote.
Princess Madeline and her husband currently live in London with their two children – so have no doubt crossed paths with the British royals at some point. However, they are said to be planning to permanently be based in Stockholm for the foreseeable future, as their eldest child, Princess Leonore, will be attending a Swedish nursery school.
“The family are still living in London, but because they also regularly stay in Sweden it is good that Princess Leonore gets this experience. It is also very important to Madeleine that the children get a strong connection to Sweden and the Swedish language,” Royal Court spokesperson Margareta Thorgren told the Aftonbladet tabloid.
While many may be disappointed that the royal baby announcement wasn’t about a new addition to the British royal family, it seems that an announcement from William and Kate may not be far off.
The bookies placed odds of just 1-3 on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealing that they were expecting another baby, however bookmaker Coral have stopped taking bets on the likelihood of a sibling for George and Charlotte all together, as they thing it is bound to happen – maybe imminently!
