He often calls Susanna Reid is his 'TV wife', but Piers Morgan may have taken things a bit too far this time as he's joked that the GMB hosts would have slept together if they were both single.
Speaking to Event magazine, Piers, 54, said: ‘Well if we were both single we’d be at it like stoats in a sack.’
He then jokingly added: ‘With other people, of course…’
His unimpressed wife, Celia Walden, who married Piers in 2010, shared a picture of the magazine cover on Instagram and wrote in good spirits: ‘The headline every wife wants to read on a Sunday morning #mythoughtsarewithsusanna.’
Piers, who has co-hosted Good Morning Britain with Susanna, 48, since 2015, often jokes that his co-presenter fancies him.
But he admits that the pair did struggle to connect at first.
‘She was the queen bee and I was the alpha male,’ Piers added to Event magazine.
‘I felt I needed to shake her up a bit. But then I realised it went a bit too far.’
While Susanna admits that she found harsh comments from online trolls difficult to deal with when she first paired up with Piers.
‘People were saying horrific things about me, saying I wasn’t a feminist,’ she explained.
‘Of course I am a feminist. And since when is it a feminist policy to blame the woman? I found the whole thing deeply upsetting.’
So how did they solve their differences?
‘Basically we got drunk in The Groucho Club and behaved appallingly,’ Piers admits.
‘Then we went off to a load of gay bars in Soho and got even more drunk. And everything got sorted out.’
We’re glad to hear it!
