Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan made a dig at Ant McPartlin after he and Declan Donnelly scooped an award, despite Ant's ongoing absence.

He’s often causing controversy on Good Morning Britain, and this morning was no different when Piers Morgan slammed Ant and Dec’s latest award win.

The 53-year-old said he’s going to boycott all award ceremonies in future after Ant and Dec scooped the ‘Best Entertainment’ award for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway at the TV Choice Awards, despite the fact Dec was forced to present the final two shows alone.

He said, “I’ve decided not to go to any more awards ceremonies. My award comes every day from you the viewers.

“Ant and Dec winning everything when one half of them isn’t even there – it’s ridiculous, isn’t it?”

Making a final dig at Ant’s no-show, Piers added, “At least I pitched up for work.”

Both Ant and Dec were absent from the award ceremony on Monday night.

It’s been a turbulent year for the TV duo after Ant, 42, was arrested for drink-driving back in March and subsequently headed to rehab to deal with his alcohol issues, leaving Dec, 42, to present alone for the first time in his career.

It’s since been announced that Ant – who also split from his wife, Lisa Armstrong, this year – will not be returning to our TV screens until 2019, meaning he’ll miss I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

But, rather than host the show alone, Dec will be joined by This Morning’s Holly Willoughby who is “excited” about the news.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have been asked to stand alongside Dec for the next jungle adventure,” she said. “I love Ant and want to send him my best wishes and support for a continued recovery. These are big shoes, not to fill, but just to keep warm for a little bit.”
