Famously outspoken Piers Morgan has slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, calling them “ridiculous”.
Piers was discussing Meghan’s recent appearance at the opening of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games in Toronto. He was chatting about the couple’s first official appearance together, along with his co-hosts Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins, live on Good Morning Britain.
The world waited with baited breath to see if Megs would pop up to support beau Harry at the opening of the games. And to everyone’s excitement, she did!
She sweetly showed up at the Air Canada Centre to support her boyfriend of 18 months. The Suits actress was then seen happily smiling away at Prince Harry, as he made a moving speech to open the games.
However, fans were left more than a little confused after she took a seat – not next to her Prince – but 15 seats away from him.
It’s said that the decision to seat Meghan away from her royal boyfriend was taken simply because she’s not a royal or a dignitary. As such, it would be against protocol for her to sit up by Harry – and alongside the First Lady of the United States.
Piers took issue with the decision. He claimed that the move from the intensely private couple had caused a “massive distraction”.
He said, “It’s common sense. It’s ridiculous. When have you ever been to a sporting event when your 50m from the person you’re having sex with?”
Susanna and Charlotte showed surprise over Piers’ lewd comment about the pair. Shocked, Susanna said, “How come we’ve got to 12 minutes past 7 and you’re saying that on the television.”
Piers also suggested that he should be the one to advise the royals on decisions like this one. Now that we’d love to see…
He continued: “They’ve done it apparently to avoid attention, all they’ve done is get ten times more attention.”
