Piers Morgan and Susannah Reid may have a love/hate relationship on the set of Good Morning Britain, but the 53-year-old proved he rates her almost as highly as his own wife in hilarious new selfie.
Piers attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards on Wednesday night and was joined by not only his wife, Celia Walden, but his work wife – Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid – too.
And it’s clear he took pleasure in being the thorn between the two roses at the glitzy bash. Sharing a selfie with the two main women in his life, Piers wrote, “The Merry Wives of Morgan.”
Susanna, 47, teamed her one-shouldered, sleek gown with a matching red lip and looked utterly fabulous on the red carpet.
Fans branded Piers a “lucky man” for having two such beautiful women in his life, with one writing, “Aren’t you a lucky man, some men can’t even get one wife, never mind two.”
But it didn’t take these two long to get back to normal and just 12 hours after the ceremony they were locking horns on TV again.
This time their “tense” GMB segment was about David Beckham and the fact he’s set to argue an allegation of speeding in his Bentley due to a technicality – that the fine was served after the notice period.
According to his lawyer, Nick Freeman – who is nicknamed Mr Loophole – the footballer has “no issue” with the allegations, but the fine had arrived one day too late.
Piers ranted, “He won’t get a knighthood by circumnavigating the law,” to which Susanna told him he was being “deliberately obtuse and annoying”.
She admitted that morally she doesn’t agree with the footballer, but legally he is correct.
The show then cut to a break and Piers hinted that Susannah may not return to finish presenting the show with him – despite only returning to work 48 hours before.
“Getting a bit tetchy in here. We both may or may not be here after the break.” he said.
When the show returned, Susannah was present but Piers admitted it was “only just”.
“It got a little tense over the break there, we had to thrash it out,” he admitted.
Some things never change…
