The DIY SOS host says he prefers meeting people face to face

Nick Knowles is everyone’s favourite builder on the BBC’s DIY SOS and host of game show Who Dares Wins.

But now he’s turning his talents to music with the release of his debut album Every Kind of People this month.

The 55-year-old is twice divorced, has four children and lives in Eton, Berkshire. In our exclusive interview, he talks Tinder, dating and his biggest passions…

Nick on being in his 50s

‘I take great comfort in that some of the most attractive men in the world are in their 50s! Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, George Clooney. I am very lucky that I know a lot of intelligent and attractive women and, as I am single, it’s a great opportunity for me to catch up with them.’

Nick on dating

‘One of my friends told me to go on Tinder! Can you imagine what would happen in the press if I was suddenly to appear on a dating app? It would be mental. Also, I prefer meeting people face to face.’

Nick on being a father

‘I love being a dad of four and I’m really close to all my children. My youngest, Eddie, is three, and not only is he a lovely looking kid but he is the most balanced, most joyous child in the world. He is an enormous credit to my second wife, Jess.’

Nick on music

‘Music has always been a passion of mine. I’ve played guitar in bands since I

was a teenager and done gigs with my brother, who is a musician.’

Nick on working out

‘Sport is a big part of my life but I played my last game of rugby last year. I work out, do yoga and Pilates-style exercises at home. And at last, four of my six-pack have turned up after staying in hiding and refusing to come out for years!’

Nick on wellbeing

‘Changing the way I ate a couple of years ago was great for my wellbeing. I went to a retreat in Thailand for a documentary, adopted a vegan diet and lost weight. I only ate meat 10 times last year.’
