Meghan Markle is set to live a life of luxury and royal splendour when she marries Harry on May 18th. But a certain member of Meghan’s family has criticised her new-found wealth, asking why she can’t spend any of it on her father, Thomas Markle.

Samantha Markle has been pretty outspoken about her now hugely famous half-sister since the pair’s engagement announcement. She even called out Prince Harry, for claiming the royals were the family Meghan “never had”.

And now she’s taken to slamming her younger half-sibling for the dress she wore for her official engagement photos.

In the adorable snaps, Meghan wore a lavish black embellished gown, which is reported to have cost around £55,000 [$75,000]. It was made by British designers Ralph and Russo, and featured in two of Meghan and Harry’s engagement photos.

Speaking to InTouch, Samantha criticised the choice. She spoke about how she wondered why Meghan hadn’t instead spent the money on her father, Thomas Markle.

“If you can spend $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad,”

The 52-year-old went on to state that she feels Meghan could afford to be a bit more financially generous towards their father, given all he has done for her.

She continued, “Meghan’s education, her connections in the entertainment industry that got her her first job on Suits and even before then…He gave her so much of who she is.”

Reportedly, Meghan’s father Thomas has declared bankruptcy, and suffers from a ‘bad leg’.

However, it’s said that the 73-year-old is ‘working on’ improving his leg in order to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle, come the couple’s May 2018 wedding.

The pair are said to have a good relationship. And it’s reported that they speak regularly, making sure they stay in touch now that Meghan lives in London.
And while Harry hasn’t yet met his father-in-law, he did ask for his permission to marry Meghan over the  phone.
