Ever since Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, it’s continually been suggested to be a rather untraditional coupling.

Royal commentators have noted how Meghan is unlike many recent royal brides, in that she is bi-racial, American, a former actress, and divorced.

However, it’s clear that the adorable couple are head over heels in love, despite any differences.

But it seems that Meghan is now planning to disrupt the royal rule-book once again, as she makes plans for her and her beau’s upcoming wedding.

The couple are now excitedly preparing for their May 19th date, and whispers are emerging that Meghan is planning to break with tradition during one part of the couple’s ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Reportedly, Meghan is planning for her mother, Doria Ragland, to walk her down the aisle, rather than her father. US Weekly claims that the choice is very much in the couple’s theme of doing the wedding “their way”.

A source told them, “With the wedding, they both want to do things their way. While they will always be mindful of traditions and the views of their elders, the day is ultimately about them and what they want to do.

“The day of the wedding itself will certainly hold a few unconventional surprises. Don’t expect a royal wedding by numbers. They want to involve their friends and family as much in as much as possible throughout the day.”

The choice would mark a big change in royal tradition if Meghan does do this.

Recent royal brides, including the Duchess of Cambridge, have all had their father walk them down the aisle.

Meghan has always been open about her close relationship with her mother. She’s spoken before about how Doria, 61, is one of her biggest influences in life.

“We can just have so much fun together, and yet, I’ll still find so much solace in her support. That duality coexists the same way it would in a best friend.”

And the yoga instructor even accompanied Harry and Meghan to the Invictus Games ceremony in Toronto, just weeks before their engagement announcement.

During the couple’s BBC engagement interview, Harry himself, “Her mum’s amazing.”

It was also revealed that Harry hadn’t yet met Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, in the couple’s first interview. Meghan said, “he’s talked to my dad a few times, hasn’t been able to meet him just yet.”

It’s thought that Meghan has a close relationship with her father too, but that her bond with her mother is very strong.

However, Meghan’s rather outspoken half-sister Samantha Markle, has hit back at claims Doria will walk Meghan down the aisle, insisting their father will do the important job.

On her Twitter, she wrote, “Muck about Doria walking Meg down the aisle is NOT true.

“Our father will walk her down the aisle.”

Kensington Palace have not yet commented on the speculation. We suppose we’ll just have to wait until the big day to find out the truth!
