  • Meghan Markle attended the US Open last week in New York where she watched best friend Serena Williams compete.
  • However, the legendary tennis star didn’t get the result that she was presumably hoping for.
  • This comes after the royal news that Meghan was made fun of by Piers Morgan for being named ‘Top Social Climber’ by Tatler magazine.

Meghan Markle flew out to the US last week to watch best friend Serena Williams compete in the final of the US Open.

Leaving husband Prince Harry and son baby Archie back home in the UK, the Duchess headed over to support her friend in the important match, just like she did when the tennis pro was over in the UK taking part in the Wimbledon championship.

However, the gal pals were likely to be disappointed at the result as Serena ended up losing the match.

And tennis fans seemed to be so unhappy with the 37-year-old’s loss that they decided to blame it on Duchess Meghan, branding her a bad luck charm.

Tennis enthusiasts have taken to social media to call the mum-of-one a bad luck charm, saying that she distracted the tennis player from the final match and that she brought bad luck to the game.

‘Serena should tell Meghan to stay at home the next time she plays a grand slam final… She is her bad luck charm,’ wrote one critic. ‘Wimbledon 2018 & 2019 and US Open 2019’

‘I like Meghan Markle but seems like she brings bad luck to #Serena!’ commented another. ‘Watch from the house like the rest of us!’

Others added: ‘Pretty sure this is the last time Meghan Markle will be in Serena’s box. She’s clearly bad luck’ and ‘Meghan Markle always brings bad luck’.

Another wrote: ‘Serena never does well when Meghan Markle is there. Bad luck. #usopen’

While one Twitter user replied: ‘I lamented about that just when the match started’.
