Mariah Carey is the ultimate show stopping, superstar diva, show woman. To cement her status as one of the world’s most fabulous performers, the ‘Vision Of Love’ songstress has recently completed a residency in Las Vegas, with plenty of glitz, glamour, and high-notes.
The 47-year-old mother-of-two has been in the showbiz industry for nearly three decades, so she’s had to combat her fair share of criticism by now.
However, a recent barrage of body shaming comments and critiques about her weight and size has the singer exhausted and fed up.
Not only have people been commenting on Carey’s appearance after watching her sing and shimmy her way through 18 number one hits in her popular Vegas show, but now the star is caught up in yet another photoshop controversy over her daring magazine cover for ‘Paper’.
One person wrote: ‘Airbrushed much?’ while another added ‘Hahaha… stop editing your photos. It’s ridiculous. Accept your body or go to the gym.’
Another simply commented, ‘That’s not your body!’ after seeing her magazine cover.
The singer was last accused of photoshopping her figure back in 2015. The photo in question was on the cover of her album #1 to Infinity. The photo showed the star looking slim whilst rocking her famous curves in a skimpy black dress. However fans were quick to question if the image had been edited.
“I am a regular human being and I deserve the same respect as anybody else.”
Now, speaking with Page Six in the US after performing to packed crowds in Madison Square Garden, New York, the singer has spoken out about the constant criticism.
Carey confessed, “I just feel like I am a regular human being and I deserve the same respect as anybody else. I have always had low self-esteem, and people do not recognize that.”
In conclusion she said, “I can’t measure what type of respect I deserve — I really can’t.”
We couldn’t agree more! Everyone deserves respect, and it’s nobodies business what size or shape Mariah is. We think she looks fantastic.
