It’s the announcement we have all be waiting for – Kate has given birth and it’s a girl!

The nation’s new Princess was born at 8.34am on Saturday morning after a super swift labour, and she weighs 8lb 3oz.

Mother and baby are both doing well in the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital. The Queen has been told along with the rest of the Royal family and is said to be delighted that Prince George has a little sister! The new princess is the Queen’s fifth great-grandchild.

Her grandfather Prince Charles will also be delighted after confessing only the other day that, “we’re hoping for a granddaughter”.

Now the nation awaits the first photos of the new little Princess, who is now fourth-in-line to the throne, and the announcement of her name. Will it be Alice? Or will the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge choose a new name and surprise us all? Either way we are delighted for the Royal couple that the baby is happy and healthy.
