After giving birth at 8.34am on the morning of Saturday 2nd May, Kate Middleton has left the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital in Paddington with Prince William and their new baby daughter late this afternoon.
The proud parents stopped for a quick picture outside on the steps of the hospital, before returning back inside.
Kate, who wore a gorgeous dress by Jenny Packham, looked elated as she held her new little Princess close to her, and Prince William was every inch the proud father with his glowing wife and new born baby.
Kate and William expressed their heartfelt thanks to everyone at the hospital, “for the care and treatment they have all received” and also thanked the nation for their, “warm wishes” following the birth of their daughter.
The Royal couple will now return to Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace for a few days, before heading home to Anmer Hall in Norfolk with the new little Princess and Prince George.
The new little Princess is yet to be publicly named, but popular names in the running include Alice, Charlotte, Victoria, Elizabeth and Diana.
Earlier in the day, William left Kate’s side briefly to fetch Prince George and bring him to the hospital to meet his new baby sister.
Little Prince George waved at the crowds with his Dad before being taken into the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital to meet his sister for the first time.
He was later taken home separately by a nanny so he didn’t miss his bedtime.
The Queen was said to be delighted on hearing the news that Kate had given birth to a baby girl, and to celebrate the arrival of her fifth great-grandchild, she wore a pink suit for her official engagements today.
