Australian actress Olivia Newton-John has revealed she is battling cancer for a third time, in her spine.
The 69-year-old star, who is best-known for her role as Sandy in hit movie Grease, spoke about the illness on Australia’s Channel Seven.
“My husband’s always there, and he’s always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it and that’s my goal,” she said.
Olivia confirmed that she is using marijuana to help with the physical pain and has also cut sugar from her diet.
Her husband, John Easterling, founded the Amazon Herb Company and grows cannabis which helps treat her.
“In California, it’s legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes,” Olivia explained.
“I’m very lucky that I live in a state where it’s legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man.”
Remaining positive, the mother-of-one added: “I am one of millions in this journey. I see it as part of my mission maybe.”
Olivia was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 1992, which she fought.
In 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer again, but this time it had spread to her shoulder.
The singer decided not to go public with the news when she battled cancer for a second time, simply saying: “I just decided to keep it to myself.”
After being given the all clear, Olivia returned to the stage earlier this year performing a series of concerts.
She told CNN last year: “I love to sing, it’s all I know how to do. That’s all I’ve ever done since I was 15, so it’s my life.”
Olivia, who will turn 70 in a few weeks, was catapulted to fame when she starred opposite actor John Travolta in the high school musical Grease in 1978.
