Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have been fronting This Morning in Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s absence all summer.
But sadly, the time has now come for the TV couple to depart from the sofa Monday-Thursday. The popular presenting pair are finally preparing to hand the reigns back over to original hosts, Holly and Phil.
But fear not, they won’t be going for good! The couple will return to their regular slot on the show, presenting only on Fridays. Plus, you’ll soon be able to catch Ruth on Strictly Come Dancing – so the pair definitely won’t be off our screens for long.
But of course, in true Eamonn style, the presenter couldn’t announce their approaching departure quietly. The TV star couldn’t resist making a cheeky jibe at the returning main show presenters….
Live on a This Morning episode this week, he announced to viewers that this week would be his and Ruth’s last hosting the show almost full-time. He also revealed that Phillip and Holly would be back next week.
But before leaving, he sarcastically quipped, “This is our last week of summer at This Morning,” he said. “Philip and Holly will be standing in for us, but we’ll be back with the main show on Friday week.”
Ruth and Eamonn verdict…
Despite their departure, the duo have proven popular during their summer presenting stint, with some fans rueing the impending loss of them on their screens.
But it seems other fans can’t wait to see Phil and Holly back, with some even criticising Ruth and Eamonn over their This Morning takeover. One fan wrote, “Bring back Holly and Phil quick”, while another even stated that she’s “sick to death” of the presenting duo.
Oblivious to the drama, Holly and Phil have clearly been relishing their summer off from the day job. The pair have both been seen enjoying luxurious foreign holidays over the summer months, posting pics to their social media of the fun and frolicks abroad.
Philip has posted snaps of his sunny break away, recently sharing a photo of he and his wife with a glass of wine in hand.
Holly also posted a gorgeous snap of herself enjoying the summer sun on a yacht too. The presenter looked every inch the star with a radiant summer glow and sun-kissed hair.
We hate to burst the bubble guys, but unfortunately it’s time to return to reality! They’ll be back on the This Morning sofa on 4th September.
