Christine Lampard became teary-eyed during her first day back on the Loose Women panel this afternoon.

The TV presenter, who celebrated her 40th birthday last weekend, was visibly emotional as a video montage of messages from her fellow ITV colleagues was played.

“Are you trying to make me cry?” she asked co-hosts Stacey Solomon, Gloria Hunniford Nadia Sawalha, as she grabbed a tissue to dab her eyes.

Going on to discuss the moment she became a mother to her five-month-old daughter Patricia, she said, “What got me was the doctor saying, ‘Christine, you are about to become a mummy’.”

Revealing why she and her husband Frank chose that name, Christine continued: “It is very old-fashioned, it was Frank’s mum’s name.

“Frank was incredibly close to his mum and it’s one of his biggest regrets that I never got to meet her, she passed away the year before we met.”

Christine then admitted that she’d still been tuning into Loose Women every day whilst on maternity leave – usually in her pyjamas!

“Honestly for the past five months, I watched you all at home,” she said.

“Definitely the hair has not been washed at this stage. I’d have just been feeding her, sitting in my pyjamas more than likely at this time of the day and it’s been so lovely.”

Christine gave birth to Patricia on September 21. She and former footballer Frank married in London in December 2015 after meeting at the Pride of Britain Awards back in 2009.
