Meghan Markle is reportedly struggling with being in the public eye.
The Duchess of Sussex has been thrust into the spotlight since she married into the royal family.
Even before her lavish summer nuptials last year, the 37-year-old, who rose to fame playing Rachel Zane in US series Suits, started to get a lot of extra public attention when it came out that she was dating Prince Harry.
But since the two confirmed themselves as a couple back in 2016, with an official statement from Kensington Palace, Meghan’s level of fame has shot up.
At the time when they started dating, the palace even had to release a statement saying that Meghan had been ‘subject to a wave of abuse and harrassment’ and Prince Harry was ‘worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed he has not been about to protect her’.
And of course when it came to last year’s big wedding Meghan was the centre of all royal fans’ attention. And then her level of fame shot up when the couple announced last October that they were expecting their first child together.
And now it seems that Meghan is struggling with being so prominent in the royal spotlight.
A royal insider spoke to People saying that ‘Meghan has struggled with the intensity of the spotlight’ and that ‘although she is a former actress, this is on a different level.’
The source added that the level of fame has made the duchess feel more alone, saying ‘It is an isolated experience.’
Since the birth of baby Archie back at the start of May, royal fans have been obsessed with getting any glimpse they could of the new mum and her son.
This could be a reason why Meghan is struggling so much with the fame, as her motherly instinct has kicked in ever since Archie was born and she is feeling protective.
Let’s hope she gets to a point where she’s able to feel more comfortable.
