After bravely battling breast cancer and struggling with her drinking demons, former Loose Women panellist Carol McGiffin certainly deserves some happy news.
So we couldn’t have been more excited by the TV star’s announcement that she’ll be tying the knot with her 35-year-old fiancé Mark Cassidy in 2018.
The loved-up pair – who will have been engaged for nine years by the time the say ‘I do’ – have already put the wheels in motion for their dream big day, with Carol letting her fans in on some of those all important planning details.
Speaking to Best magazine, Carol revealed: “I still have three dresses to choose from for my wedding.
“I might even get my boobs fixed. But that’s major surgery – it’s like three months’ recovery.”
And while the couple’s long-awaited ceremony is bound to hit the headlines, the 57-year-old was keen to underline what was really at the heart of their decision to become man and wife. Continuing she added: “Of course [the wedding is still on]! It’s definitely going to happen next year. Although, to be fair, I have said that for the last five or six years.
“Look seriously, it’s important to us – we’ve lost family this year, and that cemented that we want to be together and married.”
Carol has always been open about her adoration for her younger beau, describing Mark as her ‘soulmate…loveofmylife’ in a gushing post earlier this year.
This will be the second marriage for Carol – her first to radio and TV presenter Chris Evans in 1991 led to a separation just two years later, and finally divorce in 1998.
