He was famously axed from Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, but Brendan Cole has another dance-based project to keep him busy.

Brendan has teamed up with Kelly Brook for ‘Dance Fit’ – a six part fitness-focussed show available on Sky’s On Demand where he’ll teach ballroom and latin routines.

The show – sponsored by FitBit and Skechers – comes eight years after the pair appeared on Strictly Come Dancing together before she was forced to pull out after the sudden death of her father.


Revealing a bit about their brand new project – which combines dance with exercise – Kelly joked, “I’m dancing or trying to dance. I’m putting one foot in front of the other very quickly for our new series Dance Fit.

“This has been ten years we’ve been separated – they took us apart and now we’re back together.”

Gushing about their “instant chemistry,” Brendan said, “You know when you work really well with somebody, instantly you start and the jokes fly and the fun flies and hopefully that comes across when we’re doing our routines.”

Brendan announced his departure from Strictly back in January, saying, “It’s quite, actually, hard to talk about. The BBC haven’t renewed my contract. We get contracted year upon year.

“They’ve made an editorial decision to not have me back on the show. I’m a little bit in shock. I’m quite emotional, a bit raw about it.”

He starred on the show for 15 years.

Instead, BBC bosses have added three new faces to the professional dancers line-up – Graziano Di Prima, Johannes Radebe and Luba Mushtuk – who will join the action when the show kicks off on Saturday.

On using the skills he learned on Strictly to focus on this new project, Brendan confessed, “It was a very interesting thing to do trying to take the ballroom and latin dancing that I’m known for and trying to put it into a workout situation.

“I enjoyed the challenge and actually the results have been fantastic.”

Kelly – whose weight has yo-yo’d since her days as a model – is getting behind Dance Fit because she thinks dancing is “the best” exercise.

“I always say I find it really hard in the gym and I find it really hard going for a run because it’s just so mind-numbing sometimes,” she explained.

“But if you’ve got music playing and you’re trying to put steps together and learn different techniques then you’re forgetting that you’re working out. And by the end of it you’re actually out of breath and you’ve worked up a sweat.”
