Ben Cohen’s ex wife, Abby, has called for improvements in the way the families of Strictly Come Dancing contestants are cared for after the show.
This comes after the England rugby player succumbed to the infamous Strictly curse, when he fell for his professional dance partner Kristina Rihanoff in 2013 and eventually left his then-wife Abby.
Now the mother-of-two, who was married to 40-year-old Ben for 11 years, has said she feels “there could be some improvement” in how bosses of the BBC dance contest care for stars’ loved ones.
Admitting she hit “rock bottom” after the couple split in 2014, Abby detailed life after the heart breaking split and confessed she will “never get over it”.
She said, “It’s a story of recovery. I’ve put all my energy into my girls, who come first, and my job. I can give myself a pat on the back, as well as my friends and family who have supported me through a really rubbish past five years.”
Speaking to The Mirror, she added, “I don’t think I’m ever going to get over it. But I’m taking a new path.”
Since getting together, Ben and 41-year-old Kristina have welcomed their first child together, with baby Milena being born last year.
Ben is also father to 11-year-old twin daughters, Harriette and Isabelle.
Speaking out on Ben and Abby’s bitter break up, Kristina told the Daily Mail she is reluctant to comment for fear of stirring any drama.
She said, “I can’t comment on that because I don’t want to bring another headache, saying something that can be portrayed the wrong way.
“It was difficult. I don’t really want to say any more. It’s way in the past. We’ve dealt with it. We’re a family. We have a good future. Actually, in my mind it’s so past I don’t want to dig it out because it’s unfair on Ben to have it in the press.”
