Meghan Markle gave birth to baby Archie at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster, the newborn’s official birth certificate has confirmed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have now formally registered the birth of their son, full name Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, nearly two weeks after he was born on May 6 weighing 7lbs 3oz.

The Duchess, 37, gave her name as ‘Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex’ and listed her profession as ‘Princess of the United Kingdom’.

Harry’s full name appears ‘His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex’, while Archie hasn’t been given a royal title as the couple said they wanted their son to lead a normal life.

The birth certificate clears up reports suggesting Meghan had given birth at their Frogmore Cottage home.

The Portland hospital, where births are said to cost a minimum of £15,000, is also where Victoria Beckham and Jools Oliver welcomed their children.

While Meghan’s sister-in-law Kate Middleton followed royal tradition and gave birth in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London, Meghan isn’t the first royal to opt to give birth at the Portland Hospital.

Sarah Ferguson welcomed Princess Beatrice there in 1988 and also Princess Eugenie two years later.

Two days after Meghan welcomed Archie, the royal couple introduced the little one to the world for the first time.

Meghan told reporters that her firstborn has “the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm.”

She later beamed, “I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy.”

The birth certificate was revealed as one of the Duchess of Sussex’s close friends broke down in tears during an emotional interview in which he defended the royal.

In the CBS chat about Meghan and Harry, make-up artist Daniel Martin welled up as he claimed the former actress doesn’t deserve the negative press she’s been targeted with.

The beauty guru, who did Meghan’s make up for her royal wedding to Harry, gushed about his friendship with the new mum to the US news channel.

He said, “She’s still Meghan to me.

“I know her so well. I know she doesn’t deserve all of this negative press.

“What’s so frustrating is that you hear these stories and there’s no truth to them.”

Rubbishing rumours of Meghan’s demanding behaviour, he added, “It’s not the same person. In the years I’ve known her, the years I’ve worked with her, she’s never had a diva fit, never.”

While commenting on his hopes for the newborn’s future, he shared, “Their child is going to represent what the world is now. This is a dawn of a new generation. I don’t know, it’s just relevant.”
