We’re guessing that running through central London in your underwear is pretty nerve-wracking anyway, but add the watchful eye of one of the country’s top athletes into the mix and we’d be feeling a tad rosy-cheeked.

However, Andrea McLean looked unfazed by this very situation, posing next to Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill, after running 10K with the Celebrate You team at the Vitality London run today (Monday 27 May). The race began at St. James’s Park and finished by Buckingham Palace, with runners stripping down to their underwear to promote body confidence.

Andrea, 49, shared the snap of herself alongside Jess, both beaming at the camera, with her Instagram followers, captioning it: ‘When you bump into an Olympic legend after running 10k in your pants to promote body confidence… Thank you @jessicaennishill for saying hello to a sweaty pushing-50-year-old woman, you’re amazing 😆🏃🏻‍♀️🙌🔥 #fitnessgoals #legend @vitalitylondon10k’

Fans were quick to show their support for Andrea, with one writing, ‘You too look absolutely gorgeous’.

Another commented, ‘Utterly brilliant, well done to every pant wearing, running lady 👍🏃‍♀️🏅 😁 x’ While a third wrote, ‘Two of the hottest women in the planet!!👌🏻🔥😍😍🔥#goddesses#SexyAF #worldclasshotties

Andrea was joined by other celebrities during the run, which took place today, including author Bryony Gordon and model Jade Sezer.

Prior to the race, the Loose Women panellist shared with her Instagram followers just how nervous she was. Speaking to the camera, she said, ‘This is it, we’re on our way, we are leaving 20 minutes later than we said we would.

What an incredible day! I did it! My first EVER race, my first 10k, where I have gone from a standing start back in January to running in front of millions of people on TV, press and in person in my underwear to promote something I feel really strongly about – feeling strong and comfortable in your own skin. In my approach to my 50th birthday I’ve spoken about saying yes to things that make me feel uncomfortable, that push me way beyond my comfort zone. And every time I have said “yes” the rewards have been out of this world. I defy ANY woman to feel confident in their own skin at that moment when they strip down from their leggings and T-shirt and walk towards a start line surrounded by other runners who look way more confident than they feel, to not feel intimidated. I did. I knew that there would be photographers poised and waiting to take a picture of a TV presenter running with her cellulite out to the world! Yes, before you jump in snarling, I’ve chosen pictures here that I like, because why the hell not? They sum up the joy I felt today, running alongside some INCREDIBLE women who I got to know whilst jogging, at OUR pace, through the streets of London in front of everyone. Wouldn’t you choose pictures that made you feel happy too? My favourite is the one with my arms in the air because we had 100m to go til the finish line and I had just spotted the love of my life, my wingman and biggest cheerleader in the crowd @lordfeeney I was so filled with joy and happiness that I had DONE IT!! Thank you @mrsgifletcher for being my running buddy today, I loved getting to know you better as we trotted breathlessly alongside each other. You are WONDER WOMAN! As are everyone who ran today – @bryonygordon @jadasezer @shareefa_j @scummymummies @daviniataylor @scarcurtis and apologies to anyone I’ve left out from the #celebrateyou gang. You are all AWESOME women; everything I love about women who are ON FIRE 🔥 and who I do my best to promote and support on my site @officialtgiof #friendship #support #lovetheskinyourein #strongwomen #thisgirlisonfire @vitalitylondon10k

‘I was slightly panicking thinking I’d forgotten things and then I wanted to put a little bit of make-up on, just so I didn’t frighten the cats as I was running around. And then I realised I didn’t put any sun tan lotion on after getting dressed, so I had to take everything off, and then put sun tan lotion on because I didn’t want to get burned.’

‘But really it’s because I’m quite nervous, I’m quite nervous. I’ve never done anything like this before, I’ve never done a race before. I feel like a little kid, where am I supposed to go? What am I supposed to do?’

But despite her nervous start, the popular TV presenter completed the 10K with ease, posting a photo of herself triumphant at the finish line, with a heartfelt caption.

‘What an incredible day!’ she wrote. ‘I did it!
