Coronation Street star Sue Nicholls has been playing Audrey Roberts on the cobbles for 39 years.
And it seems she has no interest in getting to know the newer cast members.
Sue has claimed she knows the staff in her local supermarket better than the soap’s newcomers.
Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: “I seem to know the people at my local Sainsbury’s more than I know half of the new Coronation Street cast.
“What can I say?”
Sue also confessed she misses working with people her own age like Elsie Tanner, Hilda Ogden and Betty Williams, adding, “It was a lovely time.’’
Luckily for Sue, she may not have that long to wait before being reunited with one of her old friends after the return of a Corrie legend was teased yesterday.
Producer Kate Oates is yet to confirm anything but the rumours are that it’s Jim McDonald returning.
Sue’s comments come after Corrie bosses revealed Victoria Street, the new extended exterior set on the ITV soap – which includes a memorial to the victims of last year’s Manchester Arena bomb.
ITV announced that at the heart of the extension is a specially-commissioned, mosaic covered, memorial bench which will have pride of place in the urban garden in memory of Coronation Street superfan Martyn Hett, and all those who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena bomb in May 2017.
Martyn’s family, who were present at the unveiling, were the first people to see the new set. Coronation Street stars were among those who attended Martyn’s funeral in June last year.
The new set includes shops, a police station and Weatherfield North tram stop.
In a fun twist, the new set also features a very life-like Costa Coffee, Co-op, and Indian takeaway! Perfect for the peckish residents…
“Wider Weatherfield” will be seen on screen for the first time on Friday 20th April.
