A truly brave woman
Carol and her mum, know as Jean, have always been incredibly close.
The two live together in Bristol, and are said to still enjoy a good gossip and cup of tea every morning. This Mother’s Day, Carol announced the devastating news that her 88-year-old mum has terminal cancer.

But Jean’s refusing to let her loved ones feel down. “She refuses to let us be sad so we are taking our lead from her,” Carol told the Mirror. “I love her beyond measure. We are laughing so much and she is having a lovely time.”

Jean told the Mirror: “At my age I don’t want to undergo any further operations or chemotherapy treatment which can’t cure these new cancers anyway.
“Now my family and me will concentrate on being happy and celebrating the time we have together. I’m refusing to let them be sad.”
Pillar of strength
Jean, who also goes by the name of Edwina, has battled cancer three times in the past 12 years. A pillar of strength, Jean’s bravery is said to have always been an inspiration for Carol.
Carol’s also praised her mum’s open-minded approach to relationships. Carol said: “My mother Jean never settled with just one man. She didn’t see why she should stay in something that she was unhappy with. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”
Support for Carol
Carol’s fans have been quick to show their support, with well-wishes pouring out on social media sites.
