TV star gets her claws into the BBC's flagship show
Comedienne Jo Brand has hit out at the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing for featuring too many young, whippy-hipped celebrities this year.
In an exclusive interview, the 59-year-old said: “At the beginning they used to have comedians in it who were really bad at dancing and were really gobby to the judges.
“People laughed because they couldn’t dance very well. I think they’ve started to weave those characters out. It’s a shame that they seem to be trying to get more young, very good at dancing people these days.”
But Jo who currently presents BBC 2’s The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, reveals she’s an avid fan of Strictly and wouldn’t rule out donning her dancing shoes in the future.

“I like watching Strictly.” Jo explained. “I often fantasize about how it would be if I did it. They do still tend to have one extremely unfit person in their sixties, sot there’s hope for me yet!”
