She’s got three Grammys under her belt and moved us all to tears with her performance in 1988 film Beaches – now Bette Midler is back with a new album that pays tribute to the singers that inspire her.
It’s The Girls! is released on Monday November 17, but we’ve got an exclusive premiere here on Woman so you can listen first! Bette says she’s always been inspired by girl groups, and wanted to honour them in her own way by covering some of the best-loved classics.
“A long time ago I fell in love with voices in harmony,” she says. “In particular, the sound of female voices singing together. This record is a small attempt to honour them for all the joy they brought to me and the world.”
It’s The Girls! sees Bette covering the likes of The Ronettes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and The Supremes. Listen below:
