Top wedding trends 2017…
Foliage, and lots of it! Greenery is the colour of the year and we are seeing it everywhere. Brides are falling in love with larger bouquets bursting with foliage.
Garlands for weddings
Garlands for weddings are everywhere right now and are set to be the must have trend for 2017 and 2018. Add these stunning additions to fireplace mantel places, seating plans and table centrepieces, incorporate into your stationery design or create draw-dropping ceremony backdrops and archways to create a picture-perfect opportunity.
Wedding hair pieces
Pinterest, the source of endless wedding and bridal inspiration, is also the place to go to see what wedding trends are currently most popular around the world. At the moment, one of the wedding trends 2017 getting people ‘pinning’ are pretty, floral wedding hair pieces.
While colourful flower crowns and elegant gypsophila additions to hairstyles have been huge this summer, floral wedding hair pieces will be getting an autumnal makeover for the winter seasons. Get ahead of what is set to be one of the biggest winter wedding trends 2017 and take a look at dainty yet demure subtly dried flowers, or wedding hair wreaths with plenty of deep green foliage.
Wedding colours 2017
The start of 2017 was all about soft, pretty, romantic pastels including Rose Quartz and Serenity tones, this palette is still set to be a popular choice along with soft greens and creams. Greenery is the colour of year for 2017 and we will start to see more rich, deep, passionate tones such as plum, burgundy, aubergine, with a variety of greens.
We can imagine those darker tones being a hit with winter weddings as we bid goodbye to summer and welcome in those festive Christmas ceremonies and New Year celebrations!
Possibly the most ever-rising trend. The best thing about this trend is that metallics are so versatile and easy to combine with any wedding style. Don’t be afraid to mix your colours with metallics. Reflective metallics can instantly brighten up a room and can add depth to any colour palette, after-all it’s all about the shine and glamour.
Large round tables are a thing of the past. Many couples are opting for long rectangular tables, or making better use of the space by mixing long tables with smaller square and round tables to create an intimate atmosphere.
Lighting for weddings
For 2017, lighting for weddings is still all about the height, the higher the better for an instant wow factor. High floral designs are simply stunning and can transform any room, this style works particularly well for industrial warehouse weddings. Bring the outdoors inside with leafy branches for a rustic, barn or greenery style.
Calligraphy scripts, a classic and timeless trend. Brides are optioning for more minimalist trends focusing purely on the calligraphy fonts. Luxurious metallic designs will still be very popular with detailed foil pressed calligraphy and border touches. Meaningful custom monograms and detailed envelope liners creating the ultimate wow factor are a few of the favourites. Watercolour styles are the perfect option for all colourful and bold brides.
Whilst digital invitations are becoming more popular and it’s one of the best ways to save on your budget, guests are still very fond of receiving actual invitations in the post.
Geode wedding cakes are expected to be one of the most loved wedding trends 2017. These detailed cakes are covered in edible colourful crystals creating a beautiful 3D rock formation inside a frosted cake. Don’t worry if this sparkly crystal interior isn’t your style, it’s not time to say goodbye to the famous naked cake and buttercream frosting just yet, chocolate glazed naked cakes will soon be the next big thing.
Yes, really! Delicious doughnuts are a trend setter for 2017, so if you’ve been to any weddings this summer no doubt you’ll have come across at least one doughnut walls or towers. Doughnuts embracing colour with metallic tones and glitter will soon be a fling for the future. Glamour, sparkle and glitter, what’s not to love?
Spirit Stands and Tipple trucks
Second bars designated to a special spirit (did someone say gin?) are soon to become very popular. Add a special touch with personalised details from coloured cocktails, glassware and ice cubes to match your wedding theme.
This was a trend that started last year, and with the rise and rise of gin and the UK’s continued love of Prosecco, it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon.
The finest first dance songs
While the infamous first dance is normally to a tune that means something special to the couple, it seems that there’s been a pattern emerging this year of top first dance tracks that get picked time and again to mark the special moment.
Leading the way, perhaps unsurprisingly, is none other than award-winning chart-topper Ed Sheeran. While Adele may have been the number one choice after her album came out last year, Ed has well and truly stolen our hearts with his comeback album this year ‘Divide’.
Top of the tunes in wedding trends 2017? Well, according to Spotify, it’s Ed Sheeran’s heart melting track ‘Thinking Out Loud’. This is closely followed by the Etta James classic ‘At Last’ in second. Then, finishing off the top three in John Legend’s award winning ‘All of Me’.
