These two words are the secret to a happy relationship – it may surprise you!
In a world where everyone always seems to be busy, it’s easy to take your partner for granted.
Work-related stress and financial worries, as well as balancing family and friendships, can easily create distance.
Luckily, you don’t need to search far and wide to find a way to regain some closeness in your relationship…
The University of Georgia conducted a study into what makes a relationship happy, and the results are surprisingly simple.
The solution? Just two words, and making sure you say them every day – “thank you”!
The study’s lead author Allen Barton questioned 468 married people about their communication and how valued they felt in the relationship.
He found that couples that regularly showed their gratitude towards each other were happier overall. Even if couples were facing difficulties in other areas of their relationship, showing gratitude kept them feeling valued.
Whether it’s making your partner a cup of tea, giving them a hug after a long day, or even just doing the washing up, the smallest tokens of gratitude can make someone else feel special.
So next time you find yourself forgetting to thank your partner for the small things they do for you… Remember that the secret to happiness lies in communication!
