Simply follow the below diet plan and then make the low-calorie recipes underneath to make sure you are eating healthy so the pounds drop off!

The diet – here’s what to do.

Day 1
Breakfast – 1 sachet oat so simple (any flavour) made with skimmed milk
Lunch – Small bowl of lentil soup with small crust roll
Comfort food dinner – 1 serving cottage pie (see recipe below) with 2 tbsp mashed carrots and suede
Comfort food dessert – 1 serving rice pudding (see recipe below) with 1 tbsp stewed apple

Day 2
Breakfast – 2 poached eggs, 2 grilled bacon rashers, 200ml glass orange juice
Lunch – small bowl vegetable soup, 1 roll
Comfort food dinner – 1 serving creamy fish pie (see recipe below) with unlimited veg
Comfort food dessert – Baked apple stuffed with sultanas plus a little crème fraiche

Day 3
Breakfast – 1 sachet oat so simple (any flavour)
Lunch – 1 serving cottage pie (see recipe below)
Comfort food dinner – 1 serving braised beef (see recipe below) with 2tbsp mash (no butter) and peas
Comfort food dessert – 1 serving rice pudding (see recipe below) with 1 tbsp stewed apple

Day 4
Breakfast – 2 poached eggs, 2 grilled bacon rashers, 200ml glass orange juice
Lunch – 2 slices of wholemeal toast, 30g cheese and 3 cherry tomatoes, grilled
Dinner – 2-3 slices roast chicken or beef, 2tbsp mash (no butter), parsnips, carrots, gravy
Dessert – low-fat hot chocolate, 2 After Eights

Day 5
Breakfast – 1 sachet Oat So Simple (any flavour) made with skimmed milk
Lunch – Small bowl of butternut squash soup with 1 crusty roll
Comfort food dinner – 1 serving creamy fish pie (see recipe below) with unlimited veg
Dessert – fresh fruit salad

Day 6
Breakfast – 2 poached eggs, 2 grilled bacon rashers, 200 ml glass orange juice
Lunch – 2tbsp baked beans or 1 poached egg on 1 slice wholemeal toast
Comfort food dinner – 1 serving cottage pie (see recipe below), 2tbsp mashed carrots and parsnips
Dessert – Stewed apple and blackberry with 1tbsp low-fat custard

Day 7
Breakfast – 1 sachet Oat So Simple (any flavour made with skimmed milk)
Lunch – small bowl, tomato soup, 1 crusty roll
Dinner – 1 serving braised beef (see recipe below) with 2tbsp mash (no butter) and peas
Dessert – 1 orange, peeled and sliced. Baked with 3tbsp orange juice and 1tbsp Cointreau, served with 1 tbsp crème fraiche or ready-made custard

 

Your low fat recipes

Cottage pie
Serves 4

Ingredients:
1kg lean beef mince
1 onion, diced
1tbsp oil, for frying
12 mushrooms, sliced
500ml gravy made with 1tbsp gravy granules
4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed with skimmed milk

What to do:
Preheat the oven to gas 4/180c. Dry-fry the mince, then drain off the fat and return to the pan.

In a separate pan, brown the onion in the oil, then add the mushrooms and fry for 2 minutes. Add to the mince with one tbsp of water and simmer for 5 minutes.

Stir in the gravy. Cook in an ovenproof dish, covered, for 1hr. Top with the mash. Cook, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes to brown

 

 

Rice Pudding
Serves 4

Rice pudding with bilberry

Ingredients
100g short grain pudding rice
1.5ltr semi-skimmed milk
2dsp honey
2tbsp sultanas or blueberries (optional)
Sweetener (optional)

What to do:
Preheat the oven to Gas 2/160c. Grease a large ovenproof dish and add the rice and milk, stirring thoroughly.

Cook for 2-3 hours, until the rice is tender and has absorbed the milk, stirring after 10 minutes and again after 30 minutes to separate the grains.

Remove from the oven and stir in the honey and sultanas (if using). Add a little low-cal sweetener if you like, but no sugar.

 

Braised Beef
Serves 4

Ingredients:
1kg braising steak, trimmed and diced
1 bottle of red wine
300g tub Waitrose mushroom and Madeira sauce
Carrots and mushrooms (optional)

What to do:
Preheat the oven to gas 3/170c. In a frying pan, seal the meat for a few minutes until browned

Place in an ovenproof dish with the wine and a cup of water. Cover and cook for about 2 hours, checking regularly that it hasn’t gone dry. Add a little extra water if necessary.

When the meat is cooked, add the sauce, warm through and serve.

 

Creamy Fish Pie
Serves 2

Ingredients:
2 portions of shop bought cod in parsley sauce
1 smoked mackerel fillet, roughly flaked
113g frozen cooked prawns
Skimmed milk
2 potatoes, boiled

What to do:
Preheat the oven to Gas 4/180c. Put all the fish in an ovenproof dish and add skimmed milk to cover. Bake for 25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Mash the potatoes with a little skimmed milk. Top the fish with the mash, turn the heat up to Gas 6/200c and return the pie to the oven for 5 minutes to brown.
