We’re pretty sure most of you would be in agreement when we say it would be great to go to bed and wake up thinner each day!

Well…according to Dr Stephen Chang, reported on www.davidwolfe.com,  you can do just that by doing a simple two minute tummy massage each night! Dr Chang says the massage is a form of internal exercise for your stomach that cleanses and detoxifies helping to get rid of tummy fat and wobbly bits.

Ideal for doing before you go to sleep this massage is pretty simple – here are the steps:

  1. Lie flat on your back on a firm surface.
  2. Warm up your hands by rubbing them together until they feel hot.
  3. Place one hand flat on your belly button.
  4. Begin rubbing in small circles around your belly button, gradually widening the circles using a firm pressure. Each circle should take 1-2 seconds.
  5. Focus on the heat, which builds up in your abdominal region as you rub.
  6. Perform for two minutes, about 40-50 circles. Be sure to keep your stomach warm during the exercise.

For the best results, perform this technique twice a day, before breakfast and just before bed.

But while we’re not promising over night miracles, there are a couple of OTHER things you can do before bed to really give your weight loss a boost too.

Here are the four golden before-bed rules to stick to if you’re trying to lose weight…

1. Make sure your evening meal is low in salt

Salt stays in your system overnight and clings on to excess water, meaning that you’ll wake up feeling more bloated and looking bigger. If you’re trying to slim down for a big occasion, cut out salt that week and you’ll notice much less water retention and bloating. As for your dinner, stick to steamed veg, lean protein and fish. And make sure you stay away from a heavy Indian or Chinese meal before bedtime!

2. Make sure your bedroom is very dark

Not only is this helpful for getting a good night’s sleep and stopping you reaching for sugar-laden snacks the next day, sleeping in complete darkness will make your body produce the hormone melatonin. Melatonin can help you body produce more calorie-burning brown fat, according to an animal study published last year in Journal of Pineal Research.

3. Pack your lunch

Knowing what is in your food is the number 1 golden rule for weight loss. Even ‘low cal’ convenience food options are often laced with preservatives containing hidden salt and sugar. Eating fresh food that you’ve prepared yourself will ensure you’re not consuming any hidden nasties and is far higher in nutritional value. Save yourself time, money and calories by making this a pre-bed ritual!

4. DON’T go to bed right after dinner

Going straight to sleep after a big dinner will make you accumulate more fat cells – true story! Experts recommend leaving at least 1.5-2 hours before.
