We’re spoilt for choice with the fab variety of inspiring flavoured sausages to try – but have you been brave enough to buy the ready-to-cook spicy chorizo sausages? Cooked with a splash of wine and canned Italian beans – it’s never tasted so good.

PREP 15 MINS – COOK 30 MINS – SERVES 4

500g hot spicy cooking chorizo smoked chorizo sausage, sliced (we like Unearthed)

1 onion, chopped

2 sticks celery, chopped

1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced

2 cloves garlic, chopped

150ml dry white wine

400g can chopped tomatoes

410g can cannellini beans

Fresh parsley, to finish, if you like

Crusty bread, to serve

1 Fry the chorizo in a large frying pan for 3 mins, until it releases its oil. Add the onion, celery, red pepper and garlic, and cook until softened for about 8 mins, stirring from time to time.

2 Stir in the wine, tomatoes and seasoning and simmer for 15 mins, until the sauce thickens.

3 Add the drained and rinsed beans and simmer for a further 5 mins until everything is piping hot. Sprinkle with parsley, if liked. Great served with crusty bread.

MONEYSAVER: SAVE £3! Use just 250g chorizo with 250g diced potatoes for a fab flavour at half the price.

MAKE IT KID FRIENDLY: Use regular bangers, chicken stock instead of wine and add the new Heinz Five Beanz. There are red kidney, haricot, pinto, borlotti and cannelloni beans in the classic tomato sauce, instead of cannellini beans.
