You either love them or hate them, but make sure everyone enjoys theirs this year and liven up your brussel sprouts this Christmas with bacon and chestnuts!

Brussel sproutsSERVES 8 – PREP 10 MINS – COOK 8 MINS

200g smoked lardons

200g whole cooked chestnuts, halved (Merchant Gourmet)

1kg Brussels sprouts, trimmed

25g butter

 

 

 

Method:

  1. Fry the bacon lardons for 5 mins till crispy, add the chestnuts.
  2. Blanch the brussels sprouts in boiling water for 3 mins, drain and plunge into cold water, drain and cover.
  3. To serve, pan-fry the bacon, chestnuts and Brussels sprouts in the butter for a few mins, to warm through.
